Q: Why would someone want to study abroad if they are looking at a prestigious school?
A: Being at a school like Vanderbilt is an advantage in meeting international students and other people from different parts of the world. There are more opportunities to learn about other cultures and learn a language. I studied Spanish, French, and Japanese while I was here. It allowed me to expand my knowledge and experience of different cultures.
Q: How did you choose Vanderbilt?
A: I applied online at Vanderbilt when I was in high school, and it was one of the top schools that I used to. I wanted to be part of a bigger community and to be surrounded by people who were smarter than me. Also, I wanted to be around smart people who had the same goals as me.
Q: What are some of the things that I should know before I go abroad?
A: Before I went abroad, I did some research. There were so many things that I had no idea about. I knew what I wanted to do in my life, but there were so many things that I didn’t even know. I read about the culture and history of each place that I was going, the climate, how the people are, and their customs.
